Ryan, Tom. 2011. Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship. William Morrow.
In many ways, the title of this book truly tells it all. This is a story of a man and his dog, Atticus. The peaks are mountains that they climb together, and by mountains I mean real and figurative ones. Most of all, it is a book about an extraordinary friendship, just as the title promises.
If you ever wanted to explore a wild adventure, one far beyond even the wildest dream that you could imagine, read this book as an example, and maybe as the inspiration to spawn your dreams.
As Tom Ryan tells his story, he makes me believe deeply in one sentence that he wrote: “Magic is where you find it; the only thing that matters is that you take the time to look for it.”
By reading this book, I think that you will find plenty of magic. I will always remember this book as one of my all-time favorites.
